Who Is An EB-5 Direct Investment Visa Right For?

The first and most important decision you must make is what type of visa you want to pursue. Direct investment visas are ideal for solo investors and they have a wider range of investment opportunities. Where these visas can be challenging is in how job creation is calculated.

How Job Creation Is Calculated?

Job creation is calculated by providing 10 full-time positions for US citizens or residents. The positions must be available for at least the next 2 years, even if the position is filled by a new employee. Construction jobs can only be counted if the project will take 2 or more years to complete.

Types Of New Commercial Enterprises

The objective of investment visas is to create new jobs for US citizens, while providing foreign investors with new investment opportunities. Approval of an EB-5 direct investment visa requires the investment in a new commercial enterprise, which can include a new branch of a franchise, buying or expanding an existing business, investing in a troubled business, or launching an entirely new business.

What Are Investment Minimums?

Investment minimum is $900,000 USD for Targeted Employment Areas which are businesses located within approved rural locations or in locations with high areas of unemployment. The minimum for a High Employment Area investment is $1,800,000 USD.

However, there is far more to obtaining your new visa than generating the required capital—which is where Maple Liberty Partners can assist!
